Welcome!

To the first newsletter of Thirty4Stitches!

I’m getting this out later than I wanted to.  I really have some good reasons though….

Let’s start with January.  I was recouping from the mad rush in December to ensure everyone got their quilts back for the holidays.  Quilts make such great gifts!  It’s always an honor to be a part of the gift-giving!   I was also preparing for our guild's local quilt show, which was the first weekend of March.  As most of you know, I had a booth there and talked about and sold batting.  I made samples of quilts using the different batting that most people use when they send their quilts to me.  I had seven samples to finish.  And that included binding them too.  Thankfully, I had a wonderful friend that helped me piece them.  I couldn’t have finished them without her!

By the beginning of February, I finished with my samples and had ordered my batting for the show.  I was happily making progress, and then Zillow messed it all up!  In the middle of the month, I got an email with a house for sale.  Now, mind you, we have had our eyes open for a new home for a couple of years.  We needed a home to have my parents move in with us as they are aging. They are still independent, so we needed two kitchens, two living rooms, etc.  Basically, two homes under one roof.  Not necessarily easy.  Oh….then add space for a longarm business!  No wonder it’s taken so long to find.  Well, sometimes, you have to move when the opportunity arises, so we put in an offer, and after a long weekend waiting to hear back, we won the bid!  So…two weeks before our show, we were under contract with a new home and had to sell our existing home.  Luckily, our “old” home sold in two days.  Whew!  That was a crazy week.  So….I concentrated on getting ready for the show and getting customer quilts finished.  And oh yeah….QuiltCon was in Atlanta!!!! So, I took a day to go to the show.  I really wanted more time than that, but I was thankful I had a day.  Sew Inspiring!

So….the quilt show.

Wasn’t it fabulous!!!!! I personally entered three quilts.  Two of them were older, and one was a commissioned quilt.  I wasn’t expecting it, but I received 1st place, 3rd place, and an honorable mention.  Truly humbling and an honor with all the extraordinary talent that was there.  I also meet so many new quilters and hope to quilt for you soon.  Please remember that your first quilt order is 20% off quilting up to three quilts!

When the quilt show was over, I hit the ground running on getting packed for my move.  All this, while trying to quilt, so I could get your quilts to you promptly.  I’m pleased to say, everything went well, and we closed at the end of March.  The good news is that I’m 95% unpacked and have started quilting again.   The dark cloud is that my parents will be moving at the end of May, and so I’m not entirely finished moving! Thankfully, I’ll help them get in, and my Mom will want to do her own settling so that it will be a shorter process than my move.

Thank you for your patience through my life changes.  My turnaround time has already started to come down.  I’m confident there are knots at the end of my stitches!

Thank you for quilting with me!  Keep up the excellent piecing!
